Basketball and volleyball courts are flat sports facilities.
Lighting of basketball courts is regulated by SP 31-115-2006.
Basketball competitions can be held both indoors and outdoors. If the main requirement for lighting outdoor basketball courts is to provide the required level of illumination at night, then for indoor basketball arenas, requirements may be added for the quality of color rendering, the presence of a protective angle for floodlights, and the ability to adjust (dimming) the luminous flux.
Lighting of outdoor basketball courts is carried out by medium-power floodlights, which are placed on supports along the perimeter of the court.
Illumination of indoor basketball courts is carried out by medium and high power floodlights installed on special platforms, bridges, etc. For basketball halls where TV broadcasting of matches is provided, it is recommended to use floodlights with a color rendering index CR of more than 90.
