Things are getting lighter in Ryazan
01 - 01 january 1970
For a long time, Ryazan residents have been complaining about poor lighting in the city. Residents observed both streaks of light, flickering from the lights, and nonfunctioning devices on the streets. In May 2022, the situation finally began to change for the better.
A large-scale modernization of the street lighting system has been launched in Ryazan: the project will be implemented using lighting fixtures produced by Lighting Technologies’ plant in Ryazan. The project will be realized by Lighting Technologies ESCO, part of the Lighting Technologies International Group of Companies.
A total of about 15,000 lamps will be replaced in the city, providing additional lighting to 50 intersections in the city center and 70 pedestrian crossings in the blocks and between the blocks. The locations are determined by the city authorities in accordance with the road situation and the risk of accidents.
The uniqueness of the situation is that the citizens themselves chose light temperature of new lights on the Government Services platform. Most votes were cast for a neutral white light with a temperature of 4000 K (which is, in fact, recommended for city lighting by experts).
New LED lighting fixtures should fully meet the main goal – to ensure quality and efficient lighting on city streets. According to independent measurements, after the replacement, the illumination characteristics and uniformity on the streets are fully consistent with the Russian standards. It is a good argument in favor of modern high-quality lighting and an answer to skeptics who advocate the obsolete sodium-vapor lamps.
Also, as ordered by Ryazan region Governor Pavel Malkov, Lighting Technologies ESCO together with RyazanEnergo upgraded the lighting of historic Dormition Cathedral and its bell tower on the territory of the Ryazan Kremlin with special wide-degree floodlights. For the comfort of visitors, the pedestrian routes in the Kremlin were illuminated by new park lights "Sphere" with warm light.
On 6 September, following the meeting of the Ryazan region Government, the Acting Governor of the region Pavel Malkov wrote in his social networks:
?? Ryazan residents are concerned with the street lighting issue. It is getting darker earlier in autumn. Replacement of lighting fixtures is already underway: about 2,400 will be installed by 1 November. By 1 February 2023, 10,000 more lighting fixtures are to be installed. The works are underway in Moskovsky, Sovetsky and Oktyabrsky districts of Ryazan. In the near future, I plan to evaluate the quality of the works performed by the contractor. It is necessary to provide residents with opportunity to comfortably move around at any time of day and night.
