Human biological clock controls very important processes in our body. They determine periods of wakefulness and rest, they set the body temperature and control the levels of certain hormones. The driving forces behind this mechanism are hormones, cortisol and melatonin. Of course, it is impossible to do without artificial lighting in a modern city or metropolis. But it is possible to reduce the effect of light on melatonin suppression by controlling light pollution. The lighting should be engineered following the “light where you need it” philosophy.
