The lighting replacement was performed under the Energy Service Contracts concluded. According to such contracts, the Contractor is to purchase and mount equipment at its own expense and to gain profits through the savings achieved due to the difference in energy consumption levels (reporting periods before and after the implementation of the Contract). Generally, these types of projects deliver a pay back within 5 to 7 years.
Implementation of the Federal Programme on Energy Saving and Energy Efficiency Improvement under sponsorship from Russia’ Ministry of Energy. The task was to completely renew street lighting and electricity meters in two cities of the Vladimir Region: Kovrov and Gus-Khrustalny.
Luminaires mounted: CORVETTE LED - specialised versions of FREGAT LED luminaires.
Results: Street lighting in Kovrov and Gus-Khrustalny has been entirely renewed, with lamp luminaires replaced with Lighting Technologies’ modern street LED lighting fixtures.
Electricity meters for remote monitoring and readout have also been replaced with new ones. In total, over 6,000 lighting points have been renewed.
Specialised luminaire versions with enhanced secondary optics, high-efficiency LEDs and special colour temperature (neutral white) were developed. Luminaires of different power ratings were installed depending on the road class: 120W luminaires mounted on central streets and urban highways; 90W ones mounted on main city streets; 75W and 55W luminaires installed on secondary streets and in private residential areas.
Owing to the ease of installation and tilt angle adjustment, all luminaires were installed onto existing lighting poles and brackets. New luminaires are reliable and well suited to operation in existing street lighting grids: the luminaires withstand voltage drops and surges and feature overheat, overvoltage and short-circuit protection for the secondary circuit. Moreover, once installed the LED luminaires significantly reduce grid load, which virtually removes any risks of emergency and contingency modes that might occur in case of an overload.
The efficiency of these lighting fixtures with new secondary optics enabled to improve quality and uniformity of the road lighting.
- Over 60% of savings have been gained through the replacement of luminaires with sodium-vapour and mercury-vapour lamps by energy-efficient LED ones.
- All lighting requirements to GOST 33176-2014 and Code СП 52.13330.2011 are complied with.
- Colour Rendering Index has been improved, providing good contrast and comfort for motorists and pedestrians.
The CORVETTE LED luminaires are covered with a warranty that is valid through the entire period of the Energy Service Contract. The luminaires’ lifetime exceeds 50,000 hours.
