Offsite facilities upgrade as part of a state program for oil refinery modernization.
Short site description: Angarsk Petrochemical Company was acquired by Rosneft in May 2007. Commissioned in 1955, this oil refinery is one of the largest in Russia and plays an important role in supplying oil products to Siberia and Far East. Its annual production capacity is 10.2 million tons of desalted oil. The company refines West-Siberian oil that it receives through a pipeline system owned by Transneft. Its secondary facilities include catalytic reformers, isomerization plants, diesel hydrotreater, catalytic crackers, cokers, and bitumen plants. The company has a lubricant refining facility as well as petrochemical production facilities for producing methanol, buthyl alcohols, and amines.
Objective: Address the company's needs for certain types of explosion proof equipment (lighting and switching equipment). Use modern equipment that meets most demanding technical requirements and develop a number of custom technology solutions.
Luminaires used: POLARIS, ATLAS LED 30
Result: As selecting explosion-proof electrical lighting equipment was just one of the tasks, explosion safety engineers prepared a complete solution that besides the lighting fixtures (POLARIS luminaires) also included explosion-proof terminal boxes (LT-JB-IIC-R) and cable glands for various cable types. In addition, for better efficiency and lower cost to the customer, illuminance calculation was carried out for the facilities, and an individual approach was used in designing the configuration of switching equipment. Before implementing the equipment at the company's facilities, a field trial of ATLAS LED 30 luminaire was successfully completed. Currently, Ex-components manufactured by Lighting Technologies are used in a number of the company's projects. The lighting and switching equipment is being implemented in stages.
