The Memorial Museum of Cosmonautics is situated in the North-Eastern District of Moscow, inside the base of the Conquerors of Space Monument. The district is rightly called the Space District. The Memorial Museum of Cosmonautics exposition was unique. It remains one of the most distinctive museum exhibitions of Russia thanks to the ingenuity of decorations and custom design of the exhibit area. (Decorations by O.P. Lomako). The exposition solved the difficult task of reflecting all domains of national cosmonautics within an extremely small area, based on a very little number of exhibits. (The Memorial Hall presented only 106 exhibits from the museum collection. Only 20 of these were space hardware and cosmonauts’ equipment, while the number of storage items in the museum’s vaults exceeded 85,000).
